Summary of this Tutorial:

The first method is to translate your site yourself using the polylang plugin.

Start by installing and activating the polylang plugin.

go to Settings, Language to configure the plugin.

You have three tabs to deal with, the language tab lets you add the languages to use.

Under strings translation tab you’ll add the site title, description and date and time to use.

Finally you see the settings tab and this is where you choose your default language as well as the URL structure.

We recommend that you keep the first selection so that if you ever disable the plugin it will not break your links.

You can even set it to detect browser preferred languages.

The other method to translate would be to use the Google Language Translator plugin.

After installing and activating the plugin go to Settings, Google Language Translator to configure.

You can check each box to pick which languages to show on your site.

  3. Hello WPBeginner, I think using Google translator is not good for SEO. If we have accurate and unique content for each of our language then It will be great for SEO in that language.

  4. Thank you. It works for the home page. However, I notice when I try to add new page e.g mysite.com/about-us, when I create a new one for another language it is mysite.com/es/about-us-2 . I can’t make it mysite.com/es/about-us (cannot be edited). Should I purchase to have this feature or am I missing something?
