  1. This is a great tutorial. I was going to do a video for our theme documentation but I would just include your video in our doc.

Want to mention about an issue that we ran with one of our client with Bluehost. We use BlueHost VPS and we didn’t have that issue but on client server they are Cloud Hosting. When they installed WP they did one-click setup and along with it came all the plugins incl. hidden plugin called “endurance page cache”, you can google that it’s on github managed by BH.

So two recommendation on Blue host. One is to disable Cache Control under performance on Cloud Hosting and if you do 1-click install delete additional plugins like you mentioned in the video plus it will add “endurance page cache” and “mu-plugins” which will not be visible from wp backend so you will have to use ftp and find under /wp-content

I was on call with BH for an hour trouble shooting this issue but they didn’t mention to me about “endurance page cache” I had to figure it out my self.

The issues we ran into was the Add to Cart button wasn’t showing up for starter plus there were bunch of issues. Also they mentioned if cache is enabled it takes upto 3 hours to refresh the changes.

Any ways after a week of providing support we were able to solve 99% of the client issues.

I mean honestly the theme we sell is around 50 bucks and technically the client was having server side issues so as per the policy we don’t really have to resolve this issue but as Product Manager I wanted to get to the bottom of the issue and make sure it works for the customer even if it wasn’t the issue with our product. I really gave hard time to my engineering team coz i didn’t take an answer that the issue was on our side until I was 200% sure.

Sorry for the long story but I hope this will help someone else too.

  2. Hello! Thank you for sharing this tutorial. I am doing research about which site to choose for buying my domain name and hosting it. I am just starting out so I don’t expect anything fancy, just the bare minimums to establish my identity. If things go good I can always upgrade 🙂 I saw several people recommending bluehost as it is very easy and they offer great support.

  3. I’m hoping to start making a little bit of money with a review blog of reviewing skincare and maybe makeup products with affiliate links.

Question – I have a domain name I bought from godaddy and signed up with bluehost but have yet to actually get to the next step which I guess would be installing WordPress through Bluehost. How do I add an online page on my website to show affiliate links as “products ” and is it free to do this part?

  4. Does this mean if I buy from Bluehost I can have access to the WordPress plugins or do I still have to buy the business plan from WordPress in order to install those plugins, which costs around $245 a year up front? A bit confused about this. As a complete newbie it looks like I can buy web hosting BUT I still have to buy the business plan in order to use the plugins and a small handful of plugins are important to have on a blog/website. Hope you can help 🙂
